Ecologics adds vanilla-style creatures and blocks to five Minecraft biomes: coconut trees and coconut crabs on beaches, tamable camels and prickly pears in deserts, penguins and thin ice in snowy areas, walnut trees and squirrels on the plains, and azalea wood with extra moss in lush caves. It installs on Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge, and the mod is required on both the client and the server. Fabric and NeoForge builds reach the current 26.2 release, while Forge support stops at 1.20.1.

What Ecologics adds to each biome

  • Beach: coconut trees drop coconuts that break into food or a coconut crab, seashells craft into sandcastles that hide turtle eggs from mobs, and buried treasure can hold a tropical-themed music disc.
  • Desert: camels spawn wild, can be tamed and ridden by two players, and are bred with prickly pears; desert ruins add chiseled pots that hold loot and give off a redstone signal based on their contents.
  • Snowy and icy biomes: penguins spawn in huddles and grant regeneration when four or more are nearby, thin ice cracks and breaks underfoot, and shed penguin feathers brew into a sliding potion.
  • Plains: walnut trees are unique to the biome, and squirrels that trust the player after being fed walnuts will replant nearby saplings.
  • Lush caves: azalea wood and flowering azalea leaves fit the existing lush cave palette, moss carpet stacks like snow layers, and surface moss can be layered onto stone.

Installation and mod compatibility

Ecologics has no required dependencies on any loader, so it installs on its own once the matching mod loader is in place. Config differs by loader: Fabric users get a Mod Menu integration, Forge 1.18 builds use a plain config file, and Forge 1.19 needs a data pack instead, since Forge changed how it handles biome modification from that version onward. The project also partners with Every Compat, which automatically adds Ecologics wood types to other decoration-focused mods, including Quark.

Which loader and Minecraft version to pick

  • Fabric: reaches 26.2 through the shared 2.6.0-NeoFab build (released June 2026); a separate branch keeps getting updates for 1.21.1, most recently 2.3.7-Fabric.
  • NeoForge: also reaches 26.2 through the same 2.6.0-NeoFab build, alongside maintained branches for 1.21.1 and 1.21.11.
  • Forge: tops out at 1.20.1 with build 2.2.7-Forge. No Forge build exists for 1.21.x or 26.x.

Questions about Ecologics.

5 questions

What does Ecologics add to Minecraft?

Ecologics adds vanilla-style creatures and blocks across five biomes: coconut trees and coconut crabs on beaches, tamable camels and prickly pears in deserts, penguins and thin ice in snowy areas, walnut trees and squirrels on the plains, and extra azalea wood and moss in lush caves.

Does Ecologics work with Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge?

Yes, Ecologics ships builds for all three. Fabric and NeoForge get the newest content and currently reach the 26.2 release. Forge development stopped at 1.20.1, so Forge players will not see anything added after that version.

Does Ecologics require Fabric API or any other mod?

No. Every published Ecologics build across all three loaders lists zero dependencies, so it works as a standalone install once the matching mod loader is in place.

Does Ecologics work on multiplayer servers?

Yes, but it has to be installed on both sides. Ecologics is marked required on the client and required on the server, so a mismatched install will fail to connect or will hide the mod's content.

Is Ecologics safe to download?

Ecologics is distributed through Modrinth, and its source code is public on GitHub under samedifferent/Ecologics. The mod's code is MIT licensed; its in-game assets are all rights reserved to the creator, SameButDifferent.
