Day Counter is a day counter for Minecraft Java that prints the current in-world day as text above your hotbar. It runs as a mod on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, or as a plain datapack. The server needs it, and the client side is optional.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.16 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What the counter shows
The text updates in real time and keeps counting past day 100. Two variants exist, one that starts counting at day 1 and one that starts at day 0. justwilly built it for 100 days videos, and that is the use it was made for.
Installing the mod or the datapack
Pick the route that suits your setup. Mod users need the matching loader first, covered in the guides for installing Java mods and setting up Fabric.
- 1.Mod route: download the file for your loader and put it in the mods folder, on the server and optionally on each client.
- 2.Datapack route: download the datapack build instead of a loader file.
- 3.Choose the day-1 or day-0 variant, then load the world and look above the hotbar.
Trade-offs
It does one job. The upside is simplicity, since the newest release needs no other mods.
Questions about Day Counter.
4 questions
Does Day Counter work on multiplayer servers?
Yes. The server is the side that requires Day Counter, so it has to be installed there. The text above the hotbar counts the day in real time and keeps going past day 100. It was made for 100 days videos, which makes it a natural fit for a shared challenge world.
Can the day counter start at 0 instead of 1?
Yes. Day Counter comes in two variants, one that counts from day 1 and one that counts from day 0. Pick the one that matches how you want to track your run. Both keep counting past 100 days, so long survival worlds are covered.
How do I change the day shown by Day Counter?
Use the /time set command with a day value, for example /time set 10d. The command also changes the actual day in your world, and the F3 debug screen will show the same new day.
Do I need a mod loader to use Day Counter?
No. Day Counter is also published as a datapack build, which is the alternative to the mod files for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Choose whichever suits your setup. The newest release of each build needs no other mods, so there is nothing extra to collect first.
