EMI Professions (EMIP) is a Java mod that adds villager profession workstations to EMI, the recipe viewer. It runs on Fabric, NeoForge and Forge and is needed only on the player's side. If you searched for the EMI professions mod, this is the add-on that answers one question: which block does each villager profession use?

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric and NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 1.21.1. The newest build requires EMI.
  • Forge: Minecraft 1.20.1. The newest build requires EMI.

What it adds to EMI

The mod lets EMI show which workstation each villager profession requires. Hold Shift and the id of the mod that added each profession appears in front of its name, so you can tell vanilla professions from modded ones.

How to look up a profession

  1. 1.Install EMI and EMIP for the same loader.
  2. 2.Press EMI's Uses key (default U) on an Emerald or a Villager Spawn Egg to open the profession list.
  3. 3.Hold Shift to show the mod id in front of each profession.

Installation

Put the mod file in the mods folder of your Java instance, next to EMI's file, then launch with the matching loader profile. The steps for each loader are in the guide on installing mods on Java. Players who use REI or JEI need different add-ons. The creator points to Roughly Enough Professions for REI and Just Enough Professions for JEI.

What does the EMI Professions mod do?

It adds a list of villager professions to EMI that shows which workstation each profession requires. You open it by pressing EMI's Uses key on an Emerald or a Villager Spawn Egg. It also covers professions added by other mods, and holding Shift shows the id of the mod that added each profession.

How do I see a villager's workstation in EMI?

Press EMI's Uses key, which is U by default, on an Emerald or a Villager Spawn Egg. EMI then displays a list of all villager professions with the workstations each one requires. Hold Shift to show the id of the mod that added each profession in front of its name.

Is there a JEI or REI version of EMI Professions?

Yes, but they are separate mods. The creator names Just Enough Professions for JEI users and Roughly Enough Professions for REI users. EMI Professions works only with EMI, so it will not add anything if you use another recipe viewer.

Can I use EMI Professions in multiplayer?

The mod is needed only on your own machine and is unsupported on a dedicated multiplayer host. Install it locally next to EMI.
