Legacy Skin Packs is a Java resource pack that brings back the skin packs from the Legacy Console Editions of Minecraft. It is made for the Legacy Skins and Legacy4J mods, and it runs on the player's own machine only, so hosts do not need it. If you searched for legacy skin packs on Bedrock, note that this is a Java-only release.

What it adds

The pack collects console skin packs as player models and skins. Many of them are recreations built on Customizable Player Models, using LCE models that MNTYROAD rebuilt as CPM models. Modrinth tags it across many texture sizes, from 8x and below up to 512x and above, along with models, entities, GUI and environment categories.

  • Skin packs 1, 2 and 3, Minecraft 1st Birthday, Summer of Arcade and Halloween Charity, recreated mostly by permdog99.
  • Birthday packs (2nd, 3rd and 5th), Campfire Tales, Villains and Noctis, recreated by Raiden.
  • Biome Settlers 1, Egyptian Mythology, MINECON Earth 2017 and Minecon 2016, from Lewis, Pretzel and UltiMario.
  • PlayStation Skin Packs 1, 2 and 3, recreated by MacaroniWithTheMayonnaise.

How to install Legacy Skin Packs

  1. 1.Install the Legacy Skins mod and the Customizable Player Models mod. Older builds also need Legacy4J.
  2. 2.Download the pack .zip and place it in the resourcepacks folder (Options, Resource Packs, Open Pack Folder).
  3. 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen. A pack built for another game release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning.

For general steps, see the resource pack install guide. The pack was last updated on 2025-10-15, and the Lasting Legacy organisation maintains it, with Pigzone00 keeping the skin list and the pack itself.

Questions about Legacy Skin Packs.

3 questions

Is Legacy Skin Packs available for Bedrock?

No. This release is for Java and is hosted on Modrinth, which lists Java content. It relies on Java mods, Legacy Skins and Customizable Player Models, so it cannot be dropped into Bedrock. Bedrock players asking for the old console packs need a different format.

Does Legacy Skin Packs work without mods?

No. The pack is made for Legacy Skins and, on older builds, Legacy4J. The newest build requires Legacy Skins and Customizable Player Models. Without them the skins will not appear, even if the resource pack itself is selected.

Do I need to install Legacy Skin Packs on a multiplayer host?

No. The pack is needed only on your own machine, and Modrinth lists hosts as unsupported. Install it in the resourcepacks folder like any other resource pack, and add the mods the latest release needs, Legacy Skins and Customizable Player Models, on your own machine as well.
