Randomizer: Complete Edition

A randomizer that scrambles block and mob drops, crafting recipes, chest loot, fishing and more. It ships as a mod for four loaders and as a plain datapack.

Randomizer: Complete Edition is a Java mod for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt that randomizes far more than block drops. Mining, fighting, crafting and fishing all hand you something unexpected. It is required on the server, while players joining may skip it.

Loaders and versions

  • Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt: Minecraft 1.20 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What gets randomized

  • Block drops and mob drops
  • Crafting recipes (workbench, furnace and the rest), hidden from the recipe book
  • Chest loot and fishing
  • Villager gifts (trades are left alone)
  • Archaeology and trial chamber spawner loot

The randomized recipes stay out of the knowledge book thanks to the No Recipe Advancements datapack by MangoJellyPudding, so crafting becomes a matter of experiment and memory.

Installation

There are two routes. The mod files suit anyone already running a loader, and a plain datapack release covers worlds that use none. If you are new to loaders, the guide to installing Fabric or Forge and NeoForge comes first.

  1. 1.Pick the file that matches your loader and your Minecraft release.
  2. 2.Drop the mod file into the mods folder of the server (and of your own install if you want it locally), as covered in the mod installation guide.
  3. 3.Start with that loader's profile and create a world.
  4. 4.On Quilt, also add QSL. The mod's description says it will not work without it, even though the release metadata lists no dependencies.

The fixed loot table

That limit shapes how it plays. Once you learn that a certain block gives a certain item, the knowledge carries across worlds, which suits shared runs and races better than a surprise every time.

Questions about Randomizer: Complete Edition.

4 questions

Does Randomizer: Complete Edition work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. It is required on the server, and players joining do not need to install it. Every player on that server sees the same randomized drops, recipes and loot, because the shuffle is fixed by the release in use.

Can I use Randomizer: Complete Edition without a mod loader?

Yes. A plain datapack release is published alongside the mod files, so a world with no loader can still use it. The loader files are the better pick if you already run Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt.

How do I get a different randomization?

The loot table is fixed per release, so it never reshuffles on its own. To change it, pick another Minecraft release, for example 26.1 instead of 26.2, or another mod release, such as 0.6 instead of 0.7.

Does it randomize modded items?

No. The loot table comes from the original datapack and has no support for modded items. Only the items and sources it already covers are shuffled, including block drops, mob drops, recipes, chest loot and fishing.
