Villager In A Bucket lets you scoop up a villager, Wandering Trader, or zombie villager with an empty bucket and carry it around like any other bucketed mob, instead of nudging it into a boat. The Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge mod installs on both the client and the server for singleplayer and modded multiplayer, and all three loaders currently reach the 26.2 release. A separate plugin build, made from a different codebase by the same author, covers Paper, Purpur, and Folia servers that don't run a mod loader at all.

What Villager In A Bucket changes in the game

Right-click a villager, Wandering Trader, or zombie villager with an empty bucket and it goes into the bucket, nametag, profession, trades, and all; right-click again to place it back down. Bucketed villagers show a distinct texture based on their biome variant when they wear head decorations from snow, desert, swamp, or savanna villages, and the item's tooltip lists the specific villager's information. A dispenser can also pick up or place a bucketed villager, so the whole loop works without a player standing there.

Bukkit and Spigot still show up as loader options on Modrinth, but the only file tagged for them is a single 2025 build for Minecraft 1.6.4, well over a decade out of date and never updated since.
