Click Villagers is a quality-of-life plugin and mod by Clickism that makes villagers easy to handle. Shift + right click a villager to pick it up into your inventory, then place the villager head to put it back. It runs as a plugin on Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, Purpur and Folia, and as a mod on Fabric and NeoForge. It is Java Edition only.
What Click Villagers does
- Pick up: shift + right click a villager. You can place villagers straight into boats and minecarts, and dispensers can place them on Paper and Spigot 1.21+.
- Trades at a glance: a picked-up villager shows only its relevant trades, plus its owner, trade status and anchor status.
- Anchor: shift + right click with shears. An anchored villager cannot move on its own, but you can still push it.
- Claim: shift + right click with any shovel. Claimed villagers take no damage by default. Their menu lets you change the biome, open or close trading and add trading partners.
- Villager hoppers: on Paper and Spigot, craft one from a hopper and an emerald. On Fabric, regular hoppers pick villagers up instead. Babies and claimed villagers are skipped by default.
- Reset trades: use the Reset Trades recipe in the trading menu. It is disabled by default and works on Paper and Fabric only.
Installing the plugin on a server
Put the plugin jar in the `plugins` folder and restart the server. Players install nothing and join with a normal client. If you are new to this, follow the plugin install guide. Paper, Purpur and Folia share the newest release, 1.6.3, which reaches Minecraft 26.3 and needs no other plugin.
Installing the Fabric or NeoForge mod
The Fabric mod needs Fabric API in the mods folder, and its newest release, 1.6.7, reaches Minecraft 26.3. The NeoForge mod needs no extra dependency but stops at Minecraft 1.21.11. The two loaders therefore do not cover the same recent releases.
Configuration and commands
Run `/clickvillagers config path` to find the file. On Paper and Spigot it is `plugins/ClickVillagers/config.yml`, and on Fabric it is `.minecraft/config/clickvillagers.json`. Since version 1.6 you can also use `/clickvillagers config set`, `get` and `reload`. Fabric needs a full restart after file edits. German and English messages are available on Paper and Spigot only.
