Waystones is a Java Edition mod by BlayTheNinth that adds obelisk-like stone waystones you can craft or find in villages and other generated structures. Once activated, each waystone becomes a fast-travel destination you can warp back to from anywhere in your world. The mod runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge and covers Minecraft versions from 1.16.5 through 1.21.

What Changes In-Game

Waystones generate naturally in villages, witch huts, desert temples, and igloos. You can also craft them using a stone-based recipe documented in the wiki. Each waystone has a customizable name shown in the teleport menu. Warping costs experience by default, and server admins can configure warp costs, spawn rates, interdimensional travel, and explosion resistance. Global waystones visible to all players on a server can also be designated by operators.

How to Install Waystones

  1. 1.Install your loader: Fabric with Fabric API, Forge, or NeoForge.
  2. 2.Download the Waystones .jar for your loader and Minecraft version from Modrinth.
  3. 3.Place the .jar in your mods folder.
  4. 4.Launch the game. For multiplayer, install the same version on the server.

Compatible Loaders and Versions

  • Loaders: Fabric, Forge, NeoForge
  • Minecraft versions: 1.16.5, 1.18.x, 1.19.x, 1.20.x, 1.21.x
  • Side: required on both client and server

Configuration

Waystones generates a config file on first launch. Key options include warp cost type (experience, items, or free), whether to allow interdimensional warping, global waystone visibility for all players, and world structure spawn weights. The full configuration reference is available on the wiki at mods.twelveiterations.com/mc/waystones.

Questions about this entry.

  • How do I install Waystones?

Download the Waystones .jar from Modrinth for your loader (Fabric, Forge, or NeoForge) and Minecraft version. Place it in your mods folder alongside Fabric API if using Fabric, then launch the game. For multiplayer, install the same version on the server as well.

  • Does Waystones work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. Waystones works on multiplayer, but the mod must be installed on both the client and the server. A version mismatch or server-only install without the client mod will prevent proper functionality.

  • Does Waystones work with both Fabric and Forge?

Yes. Waystones has separate builds for Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge. Download the correct .jar for your loader from the Modrinth page. All builds share the same core features.

  • Which Minecraft versions does Waystones support?

Waystones supports Minecraft Java Edition from 1.16.5 through 1.21, covering all major releases in that range. Check the Modrinth page for updates to the most recent version.

  • Where do waystones spawn in the world?

Waystones can generate naturally in villages, witch huts, desert temples, and igloos. You can also craft one using stone-based materials. The mod wiki at mods.twelveiterations.com/mc/waystones has the full crafting recipe.
