PurpurExtras is a server plugin for Paper and Purpur from the PurpurMC team. It gathers the Purpur suggestions that were easier to ship as a plugin than as a core change, and adds configuration around them. It is needed on the server only, so players join without installing anything.
Server software and versions
- Paper: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
- Purpur: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 26.3. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it changes
The plugin is a set of miscellaneous features rather than one system. Examples from its feature list include these.
- Blocks that can generate loot, where a loot table exists and the loot has not yet generated, are protected from being destroyed.
- Spawners can be protected from being destroyed.
- Players can create suspicious blocks by right clicking relevant blocks with items.
- Shield damage reduction is set as a percentage.
- You control which entities transform into which after a lightning strike.
- Blocks can change into other blocks after an anvil drops on them.
That list is not exhaustive. The full set of options and feature descriptions lives on the Purpur wiki.
Installation
Installing works like any other plugin. If you have not done it before, the plugin install guide covers the basics.
- 1.Get the plugin file from the Modrinth page.
- 2.Place it in the plugins folder of your Paper or Purpur server.
- 3.Restart the server, then adjust the options you want using the wiki as reference.
Questions about PurpurExtras.
3 questions
Does PurpurExtras only work on Purpur?
No. Builds are listed for both Paper and Purpur, so it runs on either. Purpur reaches back further than Paper, so check the supported ranges on this page against your server software before installing. Other server software is not listed.
Do players need to install PurpurExtras?
No. It is a server plugin and Modrinth marks it as required on the server and unsupported on the player side. Players join with a normal install, and the changes apply to blocks, mobs and shields on the server.
Where are the PurpurExtras features documented?
The full list of features and configuration options is on the Purpur wiki, which the plugin page links to. The page itself only shows examples, such as spawner protection, loot block protection, shield damage reduction and lightning transformations.
