RTP

A deliberately simple random teleport plugin. /rtp opens a configurable menu, and players land somewhere safe inside the world border after a short countdown.

RTP is a random teleport plugin for Bukkit, Folia, Paper, Purpur and Spigot servers. One command, /rtp, opens a menu of worlds and sends the player to a random, safe spot in the one they pick. It is inspired by DonutSMP and it lives only on the server, so players install nothing.

Server software and versions

  • Bukkit, Folia, Paper, Purpur and Spigot: Minecraft 1.21 to 1.21.11. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What the menu does

The menu offers the Overworld, the Nether and the End, and each one can be switched on or off in the config. By default only the Overworld is enabled. Destinations respect the world border, and the Nether entry can use a minimum and maximum radius, which the plugin turns into a circular band rather than a square.

  • Menu title, size, slots, materials, names and lore are all editable.
  • A countdown (5 seconds by default) that can cancel when the player moves or takes damage.
  • Teleport sound and particle effects, with PORTAL particles as the example.
  • A block blacklist so players never land on lava, fire, cactus, magma blocks, campfires or water.

Commands and permissions

  • /rtp opens the world menu. Permission rtp.use, allowed for everyone by default.
  • /rtpreload reloads the config. Permission rtp.reload, operators only by default.
  • Cooldowns start at 180 seconds. Nodes such as rtp.cooldown.rank1 (120 seconds in the example) and rtp.cooldown.rank2 (60 seconds) give ranks shorter waits, and you can define your own names like rtp.cooldown.vip.

Installing and tuning

  1. 1.Put the plugin file in the plugins folder, following the plugin install guide if you are new to it.
  2. 2.Restart the server.
  3. 3.Edit the world names, radii, slots and cooldowns, then run /rtpreload.

The feature set is narrow on purpose. There is no wiki, so the config comments and the permission table above are your documentation.

Questions about RTP.

5 questions

How do I install the RTP plugin?

Place the plugin file in the plugins folder of a server running Paper, Spigot, Purpur, Bukkit or Folia, then restart. Edit the config to adjust worlds, slots and cooldowns, and use /rtpreload to apply changes without another restart. The plugin is server-side only, so players need nothing installed.

Does RTP work on Folia?

Yes. Folia is one of the listed targets, alongside Bukkit, Paper, Purpur and Spigot. Every listed target covers Minecraft 1.21 to 1.21.11, and the newest release needs no other plugin to run.

Can RTP teleport players to custom worlds?

Not by itself. The plugin handles the Overworld, Nether and End natively. For additional worlds, install a separate world manager such as Worlds, Multiverse or World Manager, then point the config's world names at them.

Does RTP need a permissions plugin?

Not for basic use, because /rtp is open to everyone and /rtpreload is limited to operators by default. Rank-based cooldowns depend on permission nodes like rtp.cooldown.rank1, so you need a way to assign those nodes to groups.

Can players be teleported outside the world border?

No. The plugin picks random locations that respect the border of the target world. It also skips blacklisted blocks such as lava, fire, cactus and water, making up to 100 attempts by default to find a safe spot.
