Sleeper is a night-skipping plugin for Minecraft servers. It moves the clock to morning when enough players are in bed, when a vote passes, or both. It runs on Bukkit, Spigot, Paper, Folia and Purpur, and it is needed on the server only, so players join as usual.
Server software and versions
- Bukkit, Folia, Paper, Purpur and Spigot: Minecraft 1.13 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What Sleeper changes
Instead of requiring everyone to sleep, you set a share of online players that triggers the skip. A second mode lets players vote with yes and no, where the result is yes votes minus no votes divided by the players online. Each world keeps its own sleep cycle and tracking.
- Percentage-based night skipping with a configurable animation speed.
- Voting with adjustable yes and no multipliers, bossbar or actionbar vote counts, and an optional time limit.
- Chat messages with color codes or MiniMessage.
- Lying down with GSit counts as sleeping, and players marked AFK in Essentials can be ignored.
Installation
- 1.Download the plugin file from Modrinth and place it in the plugins folder of your server.
- 2.Restart the server.
- 3.Adjust SkipPercentage, UseAnimation and the voting options, then run /sleep reload.
If you have not set up plugins before, the guide to installing plugins on a Paper or Spigot server covers the basics.
Permissions and commands
Everything runs through /sleep and its subcommands: yes, no, votes, ignore, debug and reload.
- sleeper.sleep gives access to /sleep and its subcommands.
- sleeper.vote allows /sleep yes and /sleep no.
- sleeper.ignore lets a player be ignored for sleeping, for themselves or others.
- sleeper.reload reloads the config, and sleeper.data shows debug information.
Configuration
One config file controls the skip percentage, the morning and night times, a delay after entering a bed, whether messages use the actionbar, and whether sleep info is broadcast to everyone instead of just the sleeper. Sleep info and skip messages are switched off by leaving them blank. The trade-off is a plugin with a narrow purpose, so it will not replace a broader time or world manager.
Questions about Sleeper.
4 questions
How do I install Sleeper on my server?
Place the plugin file in the plugins folder of a server running Paper, Spigot, Folia, Purpur or Bukkit, then restart. Players need nothing extra. Edit the config to set the skip percentage, animation and voting, then use /sleep reload to apply changes.
Does Sleeper work on Folia?
Yes. Folia is one of the listed loaders, and the README states that Sleeper supports Folia. Builds exist for Folia across the same Minecraft range as Paper, Spigot and Purpur.
Does Sleeper need a permissions plugin?
The pack does not name one as required. Sleeper defines its own nodes, such as sleeper.sleep and sleeper.vote, which you can grant with whichever permissions plugin you already use.
Can players vote to skip the night instead of sleeping?
Yes. Enable VoteSkip and players use /sleep yes or /sleep no. The result is yes votes minus no votes, divided by players online, compared against SkipVotePercent. Votes can also be started with the commands alone if StartWithoutSleep is on.
