SleepPlugin is a sleep plugin for Minecraft servers running Paper, Purpur or Spigot. Instead of waiting for everyone to get into bed, only a configurable share of online players has to sleep to skip the night. It runs on the server only, and players join with a normal client.
Server software and versions
- Paper, Purpur and Spigot: Minecraft 1.21 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
What it changes
The default is 50% of online players, with at least one sleeper always required. With four players online, two must sleep. With five, two. Odd counts are handled by the formula (players - 1) / 2, so three players online need one sleeper.
- A bossbar shows live sleep progress, with configurable color and style.
- Storms are skipped along with the night, and the change from night to morning is a smooth transition.
- Phantom spawning is disabled while the plugin is active.
- Players in the Nether and End can be left out of the count.
- Message modes run from normal to minimal to silent.
- Per-world overrides cover sleep percentage and minimum players.
- Messages ship in English and Russian, and you can add your own language file.
Installation and configuration
Put the jar in the plugins folder and restart, as covered in how to install plugins on a server. The config is created at plugins/SleepPlugin/config.yml on first start. It also sets the skip delay, the morning time and the minimum player count. Java 21 or newer is needed for 1.21.x, and Java 25 or newer for 26.x.
Permissions and commands
- /sleep status shows the percentage and per-world settings. /sleep reload reloads config and language files. Both need sleepplugin.admin, which defaults to op.
- sleepplugin.exempt removes a player from the count, useful for admins in creative or spectator.
- sleepplugin.bypass.min-players lets a player skip the night even alone or below the minimum.
The trade-off is that it is a server-side install only, so a server you do not administer cannot add it.

Questions about SleepPlugin.
4 questions
How many players need to sleep to skip the night?
By default, 50% of online players, and at least one player is always required. With four online, two must sleep, and with five, two. You can change sleep-percentage from 1 to 100 in config.yml, or override it for a single world.
Does SleepPlugin need a permissions plugin?
No. LuckPerms is optional and only needed for weighted votes through the sleepplugin.weight meta. The exempt and bypass permissions are plain Bukkit permissions, so they work with any permissions plugin. Without LuckPerms, every player counts as one vote.
Can I stop phantoms from spawning with this plugin?
Yes. The prevent-phantoms option is on by default and disables phantom spawning while the plugin is active. You can turn it off in config.yml if you want phantoms to behave as normal on your server.
Can I use a different language for the messages?
Yes. English and Russian are built in. For another language, copy template.yml or an existing language file in plugins/SleepPlugin/lang/, rename it to your language code, translate it and set language in config.yml.
