DepthGUI preview showing its clean, modern HUD redesign in Minecraft Java

DepthGUI is a Java Edition resource pack focused entirely on the interface: it rebuilds the hotbar, status icons, and other HUD widgets with a cleaner, more minimal look while keeping Minecraft's original color palette recognizable. It is a plain client-side pack, no mod loader or OptiFine required, and the current alpha build targets Minecraft 1.21.11.

What DepthGUI changes so far

  • Redesigned HUD and widget textures for a cleaner, more modern look
  • Reworked buttons across the interface for sharper contrast
  • 16x resolution assets that stay close to vanilla proportions
  • Drop-in zip install with no dependencies or mod loader

How to install DepthGUI

  1. 1.Download the pack zip from the DepthGUI page on Modrinth
  2. 2.Open Minecraft, go to Options, then Resource Packs
  3. 3.Click Open Pack Folder and drop the zip file in without extracting it
  4. 4.Select DepthGUI in the in-game list and move it to the active side
  5. 5.Reload resource packs and confirm the redesigned HUD appears

What's still on the roadmap

The current release only covers the HUD and widget layer. The player inventory, menu GUI screens, and container textures for chests and crafting tables are still vanilla and are listed as planned work for future updates rather than something the pack changes today.

Known limitations

DepthGUI is a Java Edition pack only, with no listed Bedrock or Marketplace version. It carries an all-rights-reserved license with no published redistribution terms, so it should be downloaded from the Modrinth project page rather than a third-party mirror.

Questions about DepthGUI.

5 questions

How do I install DepthGUI?

Download the zip from the DepthGUI page on Modrinth, open Minecraft's Options > Resource Packs menu, click Open Pack Folder, and drop the zip file in unextracted. Select DepthGUI from the in-game list to activate it. No mod loader or installer is required.

Does DepthGUI change the inventory and menu screens?

Not yet. The current alpha build only redesigns the HUD and widget elements, such as the hotbar and status icons. Inventory, menu GUI, and container textures are still on vanilla defaults and are listed as planned additions for future updates.

Which Minecraft version does DepthGUI support?

The current release lists support for Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 only. Because it is an early alpha, earlier or later point releases are not confirmed to work correctly until the creator publishes a matching update.

Is DepthGUI available for Bedrock Edition?

No. DepthGUI is distributed as a Java Edition resource pack zip on Modrinth. There is no listed Bedrock or Marketplace version from the same creator.

Does DepthGUI require OptiFine or a mod loader?

No. DepthGUI is a plain resource pack zip that applies through the vanilla Options > Resource Packs menu. It does not depend on OptiFine, Iris, Fabric, or any other mod loader to work.
