Blue Netherite

A one-purpose 16x Java resource pack that recolours ancient debris light blue so it stands out while you mine. Newer builds also make the ore glow in the dark.

What Blue Netherite works with.

PlatformJava Edition
Minecraft versions1.16, 1.16.5, 1.17.1, 1.18.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2, 26.3

Blue Netherite is a simplistic 16x blue netherite texture pack for Minecraft Java Edition. It recolours ancient debris light blue so the ore is easier to find while mining, and builds cover Minecraft 1.16 through 26.3. It is client-side only.

What changes visually

The pack does one job. Ancient debris turns light blue, a colour that separates it from the surrounding Nether stone. From version 1.2.0 onward, the ore also glows in the dark, which helps in dim tunnels. No other block changes are listed, so the rest of the game keeps its vanilla look.

Versions and requirements

  • Edition: Java only. Bedrock uses a different pack format.
  • Resolution: 16x, in a simplistic, vanilla-like style.
  • Minecraft: builds across the pack's history span 1.16 to 26.3, and the newest is 1.2.1.
  • Companion mods: none required.
  • Side: needed on the client, not supported on servers.

How to install Blue Netherite

  1. 1.Download the .zip from the Modrinth page.
  2. 2.In Minecraft, open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and drop the .zip in.
  3. 3.Move Blue Netherite to the Selected side of the screen.

The resource pack install guide covers the same steps in more detail. A pack built for another game version can still load, but Minecraft shows an incompatibility warning.

Known limitations

The feature set is narrow by design. It touches ancient debris and nothing else, so it works as a utility tweak rather than a full retexture. Because servers do not support it, other players will not see the blue ore.

Questions about Blue Netherite.

4 questions

How do I install the Blue Netherite texture pack?

Download the .zip from Modrinth and place it in your resourcepacks folder. You can open that folder from Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder. Back on the Resource Packs screen, move Blue Netherite to the Selected side. No extra mods or libraries are needed for it to load.

Does Blue Netherite make ancient debris glow?

Yes, from version 1.2.0 onward. Those builds make ancient debris glow in the dark and change its colour to light blue. Builds older than 1.2.0 only change the colour. The newest release, 1.2.1, is a later build than 1.2.0, so it includes the glow.

Is Blue Netherite available for Bedrock Edition?

This page covers the Java Edition pack hosted on Modrinth. Modrinth hosts Java content, and Bedrock uses a different pack format, so this pack is not a Bedrock download. It is listed for Java Edition only.

Can I use Blue Netherite on a server?

The pack is client-side only, and servers do not support it. Install it on your own game and it changes what you see locally. It does not alter the server, and other players will not see blue ancient debris unless they install it themselves.
