Enhanced Audio is a sound pack for Java that swaps in 637 new sounds in a realistic, simple style. Frawzy first published it in 2020 and last updated it in April 2026. It needs no other mods, so it works as a drop-in audio overhaul.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.10 to 26.3.

What the pack changes

The style is realistic and simple, and it reflects Frawzy's own taste. Expect a different character from the stock audio, not a neutral cleanup. CurseForge files the pack under 16x, Modern and Traditional.

Ambient sound is not the focus. Frawzy links a separate pack, Enhanced Audio Ambience, for players who want it.

How to install Enhanced Audio

The steps match any Java resource pack, and the install guide covers the details.

  1. 1.Get the .zip from the CurseForge page.
  2. 2.Open Options > Resource Packs and choose Open Pack Folder, then drop the .zip into the resourcepacks folder.
  3. 3.Move Enhanced Audio to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.

Compatibility and limits

Frawzy tested the pack on older releases as well as current ones, and says it may even load on releases older than the supported range, with noticeable inconsistencies.

The trade-off is scope. This is a sound swap tied to one creator's taste, with no source repository to inspect and no licence listed on CurseForge.

Questions about Enhanced Audio.

4 questions

How do I install Enhanced Audio?

Put the .zip in the resourcepacks folder, which you reach through Options > Resource Packs > Open Pack Folder. Then move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen. The pack needs no other mods, so nothing else has to be set up before you load a world.

Does Enhanced Audio work on Bedrock?

No. This pack is a Java project on CurseForge, and Bedrock uses a different pack format, so the same .zip will not work there. Bedrock players need a sound pack made for their own format, so check that a listing says Bedrock before using it.

Why does Enhanced Audio say it is incompatible?

A pack built for another release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning. Frawzy says the warning is nothing to worry about, since the pack was tested on older releases through the latest one. Move it to the Selected side and it will load.

Does Enhanced Audio add ambient sounds?

Not as its main job. The pack swaps in 637 new sounds in a realistic, simple style, and Frawzy links a separate pack called Enhanced Audio Ambience for players who want ambient sounds. It is its own pack with its own page, so you choose it separately.
