Glowing Enchanted Tools is a simplistic, vanilla-like 16x resource pack for Java that adds a glow to enchanted tools. Sponcered made it as a small personal pack and kept the scope narrow. It works on the player side only and needs no companion mod.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.5 to 1.21.10.

How to install Glowing Enchanted Tools

  1. 1.Get the .zip file from the Modrinth page.
  2. 2.Open Options, then Resource Packs, and choose Open Pack Folder. Drop the zip in.
  3. 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.

The install guide for Java and Bedrock covers the same steps with more detail. A pack built for another release can still load, but it shows an incompatibility warning. This one is Java only, so it will not work on Bedrock.

What changes visually

The pack is 16x and vanilla-like.

The mace model comes from Vanilla Tweaks, whose team allowed Sponcered to use some of their assets. The pack stays small by design, and Sponcered plans only a few more additions.

Known limitations

The shield and trident are not covered. They render as entities in the player's hand, so they would need a mod to work. Updates are slow, since the author is a college student with little free time. The newest update landed in December 2025.

Questions about Glowing Enchanted Tools.

4 questions

Does Glowing Enchanted Tools work on Bedrock?

No. It is a Java pack, and Bedrock uses a different resource format.

Does Glowing Enchanted Tools need OptiFine or another mod?

No. The newest update lists no requirements, so it loads as a plain resource pack. The shield and trident, which the pack does not cover yet, would need a mod to work.

Which tools get the glow?

The pack adds a glow to enchanted tools and includes a mace model borrowed from Vanilla Tweaks. The shield and trident are left out because they render as entities in the player's hand, which would need a mod to work.

Why does the glow look shaded?

Handheld items cannot have self-shading turned off, unlike blocks. The glow therefore picks up some shading. The creator says they will revisit it if that limit changes.
