Slightly Improved Font

A font-only pack that redraws vanilla text at 32x, with unicode coverage. Stack it over any setup for crisper lettering that still looks familiar.

Slightly Improved Font is a vanilla-like 32x resource pack for Minecraft Java that redraws the default font at higher resolution. It does one job, and the text keeps its familiar shape while looking cleaner. It runs on the player's machine only.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.17 to 26.3.

What changes visually

The pack replaces the original font with a redraw at 32x. The letterforms stay recognisably vanilla, which is the point. The improvement is subtle, not a restyle.

Unicode characters are covered too. Because it only touches the font, it is meant to be enabled alongside your vanilla textures or whichever texture pack you already use.

Known limitations

The trade-off is scope. This is a font and nothing more, so if you want new block or item art, pair it with a different pack.

4 questions

How do I install Slightly Improved Font?

Download the zip from Modrinth, open Options, then Resource Packs, and choose Open Pack Folder. Drop the zip into that folder without unzipping it. Back on the Resource Packs screen, move Slightly Improved Font to the Selected side.

Does Slightly Improved Font work with other resource packs?

Yes. The pack adds only a redrawn 32x font and is meant to be enabled on top of your vanilla game or another resource pack. It also covers unicode characters, so extended letters and symbols get the same treatment. Install it as you would any pack, by moving it to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen.

Is Slightly Improved Font available for Bedrock?

No. It is a Java pack hosted on Modrinth, and Bedrock uses a different pack format. Java players can use it across Minecraft 1.17 to 26.3. Bedrock players would need a separate font pack made for their own format.

Can I use Slightly Improved Font in videos or modpacks?

Yes. The pack is MIT licensed, and the creator states you are free to use it in modpacks and in videos or streams. The licence file in the repository allows use, modification, merging, publishing and distribution of the work.
