Thunder is a lightweight performance modpack for Minecraft Java on Fabric, made by TheBossMagnus for players on low-end computers. It bundles proven FPS and loading-time mods and nothing else, so play stays close to vanilla. It applies only to the machine you play on.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.16.5 to 26.3.
- Quilt: Minecraft 1.18.2 to 1.21.5, builds stopped after July 2025.
What Thunder changes
The pitch is pure performance: higher frame rates, less lag, faster load times and lower resource use. The pack holds only stable performance mods and their essential dependencies, with no extra gameplay content. That keeps the experience vanilla and the pack easy to reason about.
The creator's own test ran on a Ryzen 9 7945HX with an RTX 4080 Mobile and 16 GB of RAM, using fancy graphics, 24 render distance and 5 simulation distance. Each release page lists its exact mods.
How to install Thunder
- 1.Open the Modrinth App, Prism Launcher or another launcher that reads .mrpack files.
- 2.Import Thunder from its Modrinth page and choose the release that matches your Minecraft number.
- 3.Let the launcher fetch the listed mods and the Fabric loader, then start the new instance.
If this is your first pack, how to install a Minecraft modpack covers the import step by step. Anyone who wants the loader on its own can follow installing Fabric.
Updates, bugs and reuse
The pack tracks the newest Minecraft releases while keeping older ones available, and snapshots appear when possible. Bug reports and mod suggestions go to the GitHub issue tracker. Using Thunder as the base of your own pack is allowed if you link back to its page and add real content of your own.
Questions about Thunder.
3 questions
How do I install Thunder?
Use the Modrinth App, Prism Launcher, MultiMC or another launcher that supports Modrinth modpacks. Import Thunder from its Modrinth page, pick the release that matches your Minecraft number, and the launcher downloads the listed mods and the Fabric loader. Then launch the new instance as usual.
Which mods does Thunder include?
Thunder holds only proven, stable performance mods plus the dependencies they need, with no extra gameplay mods. The exact list changes between releases, so open the page for the release you plan to use on Modrinth to see every mod it contains.
Can I use Thunder as the base for my own modpack?
Yes, with two conditions. Your description must link back to the Thunder page, and you must not just reupload the pack, its assets or its branding. Derivative works that add only a couple of mods are also discouraged. The creator invites questions on Discord if you are unsure.
