Corail Tombstone is a Forge and NeoForge mod that stores your inventory in a grave when you die, so a bad death costs you a walk instead of your gear. It runs on both client and server, and it works fine on dedicated servers. Around the grave it builds a gloomy fantasy layer of haunted graves, souls, perks and enchantable items.

Loaders and versions

  • Forge: Minecraft 1.12 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.
  • NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.2. The newest build needs no dependencies.

What it adds

  • Decorative graves that emit fog particles at night. They can be harvested with a shovel or pickaxe and engraved at an anvil using a grave plate and an iron ingot.
  • Souls that haunt some graves, depending on the config chance. A soul is spent on magic scrolls and tablets or to upgrade the grave's key.
  • Grave Guardians, rare protectors near a grave that trade with players, including for Essence of Undeath.
  • Abandoned Graves on the surface and in oceans (ocean ones on Minecraft 1.20.1 and later), in five colours, with lootable contents set in config/tombstone/loottables.
  • Knowledge of Death, a perk screen fed by points from soul enchanting, freeing souls, praying with an Ankh of Pray and completing the mod's advancements.
  • A Compendium of linked info pages, plus commands for death and dimensional teleportation such as TBTeleport.

Installation and configuration

Pick the file that matches your loader and game release, drop it in the mods folder, and launch with that loader's profile. The Forge and NeoForge setup guide covers the loader side. Install it on the dedicated server too if you play multiplayer.

Three config files prefixed with tombstone sit in the config folder. Most features, items and enchantments can be switched off there, and some, like PvP, are off by default. The in-game client settings open with /tbgui or a keybind. The Knowledge of Death keybind sits under misc and is unbound until you set it.

Questions about Corail Tombstone.

4 questions

Does Corail Tombstone work on multiplayer servers?

Yes. The mod works fine with dedicated servers, and its files are tagged for both client and server. Install it on the server as well as on each player's game so graves, souls and perks behave consistently for everyone connected.

How do I configure Corail Tombstone?

Three config files prefixed with tombstone live in the config folder. Most features, items and enchantments can be disabled there. Client preferences open in game through the /tbgui command or a keybind you assign yourself.

How do I make a decorative grave in Corail Tombstone?

You need Grave's Dust, usually dropped by undead mobs or given by a cat as a morning gift, plus one Essence of Undeath. Essence comes mainly from the mod's advancements and from Grave Guardian trades, and rarely from undead, cats or deep-water fishing.

What does the Knowledge of Death do?

It is a perk system. You earn knowledge points by enchanting with a grave's soul, freeing a soul from a receptacle, praying near a grave with an Ankh of Pray, or finishing the advancements. Points unlock small bonuses tied to the mod's features.
