Goblin Traders is a Java mod by MrCrayfish for Fabric, NeoForge and Forge. It adds goblin merchants found randomly underground in caves or in the Nether, similar to Wandering Traders, but their stock is rare and useful.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.2. The newest build requires Framework, optionally Configured and Catalogue.
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.6 to 26.2. The newest build requires Framework, optionally Configured and Catalogue.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.15.2 to 1.21.1. The newest build requires Framework, optionally Configured and Catalogue; builds for 1.19.4 need no dependencies; builds for 1.16.3 to 1.19.3 need no dependencies; builds for 1.15.2 need no dependencies.
What the goblins trade
The mod adds two traders, each with its own trade table. Goblins spawn near a random player, and they sell goods you would not normally obtain. A trade can hand you an enchanted book at a higher level than the enchant usually allows. They have an attitude, so hitting one is a poor idea. Offer a goblin its favourite food and you get a short animation.

Installing it
Install the loader that matches your release, then place the mod file and its required library in the mods folder. Our guide to installing Java mods walks through the steps. Configured and Catalogue are optional extras, and neither is needed to launch.
For modpack makers
Trades can be changed through a datapack. MrCrayfish publishes a detailed guide on rewriting them, along with an example datapack to start from. That makes the mod easy to rebalance in a pack where rare items should cost more or less.
The trade-off is scope. This is a deliberately simple mod that adds two traders, so it suits players who want a small adventure boost.

Where do goblin traders spawn?
