Just Enough Resources (JER) is a client-side add-on mod for Just Enough Items (JEI) on Minecraft Java Edition. JEI is the recipe and item browser that most modded players already run; JER layers extra lookup tabs onto that same item panel, most notably showing which mobs drop the item you're looking at, alongside world generation sources, dungeon chest odds, and villager trades. It runs on Fabric, Forge, and NeoForge, and it has no interface of its own outside of JEI.
What JER adds to the JEI item panel

- Plant and seed drops: which crops or plants produce the item
- World generation: ores, structures, and biome sources for the item

Installing JER alongside Just Enough Items
JER's Modrinth page does not list a required dependency, but the mod is built entirely as an add-on to Just Enough Items: every tab it adds shows up inside JEI's own item panel, so JER has nothing to display without JEI installed on the same loader and Minecraft version.

Loader and version support
Fabric and NeoForge track current releases closely: both reached Minecraft 26.2 with build 1.11.0.43, published 2026-08-03. Forge lags well behind, with its last published build (1.6.0.17, from 2025-05-07) topping out at Minecraft 1.21.1. A Forge modpack built on anything newer than 1.21.1 will not have a matching JER build.

What does Just Enough Resources (JER) do?

Does JER need Just Enough Items (JEI) installed?
Yes. JER's Modrinth listing doesn't declare a formal dependency, but the mod has no interface of its own. Every tab it adds appears inside JEI's item panel, so JER shows nothing unless JEI is installed for the same loader and Minecraft version.
Which loaders does Just Enough Resources support?

Why are the mob drops or world gen tabs empty in JER?
JER builds those tabs by scanning the loaded world, which does not always sync correctly over a network connection. Players on dedicated or multiplayer servers, including some modpacks, have reported empty mob drop and world gen tabs even for vanilla items, while singleplayer works. Loading a singleplayer world once before connecting to the server is a commonly reported workaround.
Can I run JER on a Minecraft server?
