MiniHUD is a client-side Fabric mod that adds a configurable "mini F3" readout and a set of world overlays, from light level to slime chunks. Forge, Rift, LiteLoader and Ornithe builds exist, but all of them have stopped. It belongs on the player's machine only and needs the MaLiLib library.
Loaders and versions
- Fabric: Minecraft 1.14 to 26.3. The newest build requires MaLiLib.
- Forge: Minecraft 1.8 to 1.15.2, builds stopped after July 2024. The newest build requires MaLiLib; some builds for 1.8 to 1.12.2 need no dependencies.
What it adds
- Info lines with configurable type, font size, colour and order.
- Overlay renderers for light level, spawn chunks, slime chunks, random tick range, region file boundaries, heightmap and structure bounding boxes.
- Generic shape renderers, including spheres, cylinders and circles.
Installing and using it
- 1.Set up Fabric Loader for your Minecraft version, as covered in the Fabric guide.
- 2.Put MiniHUD and MaLiLib in the mods folder. Fabric API is not needed.
- 3.Press H to switch all rendering on or off, and H + C to open the config menu.
Slime chunks and known quirks
The slime chunk overlay shows which chunks are slime chunks. It does not show the height range where slimes spawn. Its top edge starts at your position when you toggle it on, and holding the toggle hotkey while scrolling the mouse wheel moves it.
On a multiplayer server, if you know the world seed, send a chat message such as `minihud-seed 12345`. MiniHUD takes the seed from the message and does not send it. Newer releases also accept a leading slash, but a typo then reaches the server as an invalid command.

4 questions
Does MiniHUD work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, as a client-side mod it works when you join a server, and nothing needs installing on that server for the info lines and most overlays. Structure bounding boxes are the exception, because the server must run the Servux mod to send the structure data.
Does MiniHUD need Fabric API?
No. The Fabric build needs only the MaLiLib library, which provides its config system, config menus and hotkeys. Fabric API is not a requirement, so you can leave it out unless another mod in your pack asks for it.
Why does the slime chunk overlay not show where slimes spawn?
The overlay only marks which chunks are slime chunks. It does not represent the slime spawning height range. By default its top edge sits at your position when you switch it on, and you can move it by scrolling the mouse wheel while holding the toggle hotkey.
How do I open the MiniHUD config menu?
Press H and C together to open the in-game config menu. The H key alone is the main rendering toggle, and it switches off every info line and overlay in the mod at once, so press it again to bring them back.
