Modular Golems is a Minecraft Java mod for NeoForge and Forge that adds Tinker-style metal golems. Each part of a golem is made from a different metal, and every metal changes health, attack or special behaviour. It has to be installed on both the client and the server.
Loaders and versions
- NeoForge: Minecraft 1.20.1 to 26.1.2. The newest build requires L2 Library, optionally L2 Backpack, L_Ender's Cataclysm, L2 Archery, L2 Weaponry, L2 Hostility, Create, Touhou Little Maid, Patchouli, L2 Complements, Botania and Just Enough Items (JEI).
- Forge: Minecraft 1.19.2 to 1.20.1. The newest build requires L2 Library, optionally L2 Backpack, L_Ender's Cataclysm, L2 Archery, L2 Weaponry, L2 Hostility, Create, Touhou Little Maid, Alex's Caves, Patchouli, L2 Complements, Botania and Just Enough Items (JEI).
Golem types and materials
Three golem types exist. The metal golem is close to an Iron Golem, with high health and attack. The humanoid golem is player-like and can wear armor, carry shields and fight with melee weapons, bows, crossbows and tridents. The dog golem is wolf-like and fast.
Vanilla metals give plain trade-offs. Copper heals when struck by lightning, gold heals over time but has weak stats, netherite hits an area, and skulk is described as strong as a Warden. Other metals come from companion mods. Twilight Forest adds Steeleaf, Ironwood, Knightmetal and Fiery. Create adds Zinc, Andesite Alloy, Brass and Railway, which hits mobs like a train. L2 Complements adds Totemic Gold, Poseidite, Shulkerate and Eternium.
Assembling a golem
- 1.Craft several golem templates.
- 2.Use a stonecutter to get clay golem parts.
- 3.Apply metals onto the clay parts in an anvil.
- 4.Assemble the golem in a crafting table.
- 5.Optionally apply upgrades in an anvil.
The in-game Patchouli book covers golems in more depth.
Upgrades
Each part takes one upgrade, so a metal golem holds four, a humanoid three and a dog golem two. Vanilla-material upgrades cover armor, regeneration, explosion resistance, swimming, floating and fire immunity. Ender Sight lets a golem see enemies through walls, which suits mob farms and guard duty. The Bell upgrade highlights nearby enemies and draws them toward the golem. The Recycle upgrade makes a dead golem drop its item form instead of metal ingots. Companion mods add more, such as Thorn, Teleport and Freezing.

Questions about Modular Golems.
4 questions
How do I make a golem in Modular Golems?
Craft golem templates, cut them into clay parts with a stonecutter, then apply metals to each part in an anvil. Put the finished parts together in a crafting table. An anvil also applies optional upgrades afterwards. The Patchouli book explains each golem type in more detail.
Does Modular Golems work on Fabric?
No. Modular Golems is released for NeoForge and Forge only, and there are no Fabric files. Pick the loader that matches your Minecraft release, and install the required library mod alongside it.
Does Modular Golems work on multiplayer servers?
Yes, but it must be installed on both sides. Players and the server both need the mod and its required library, otherwise the golems and their parts will not load properly for everyone connecting.
Can golems use weapons and armor?
Humanoid golems can wear armor, block with shields, and use melee weapons, bows, crossbows and tridents. Tridents work without a Loyalty enchantment. Used items lose durability, and ranged weapons consume arrows unless the bow has Infinity.
