The AmethystTools plugin adds amethyst-themed 3x3 mining tools to Paper, Folia, Purpur, Spigot and Bukkit servers. Pickaxes, shovels and axes come in seven tiers, and the axe fells a whole tree in one swing. It runs on the server only, so players install nothing. It is inspired by the Amethyst Tools on DonutSMP and is not affiliated with that network.

What the tools do
Pickaxes and shovels break a 3x3 area that follows your aim. Look ahead and you clear a wall. Look steeply up or down and you clear a floor or ceiling layer.
- Tree-felling axe that removes a connected tree, up to 64 logs.
- Seven tiers: wooden, stone, iron, copper, golden, diamond and netherite.
- A menu that lists every tier and hands out tools.
- A configurable blacklist that shields ores, containers, bedrock and other chosen blocks from area breaking.
- Plugin-specific tags on each tool, so a look-alike item with the same model ID gains no abilities.
Install and commands
Follow the general plugin install guide if this is your first plugin. The short route is below.
- 1.Get the plugin file from Modrinth.
- 2.Place it in the plugins folder of your server and restart.
- 3.Run /amethysttools give netherite axe to confirm it works.
- /amethysttools opens the tool menu, for players only. Needs amethysttools.give.
- /amethysttools give [players] hands a tool to you or chosen players, with tab completion. Needs amethysttools.give.
- /amethysttools reload reloads config.yml and refreshes tool names in online inventories. Needs amethysttools.admin.
Both permissions default to operators. The plugin needs no dependencies, so it works without a separate permissions plugin.
Configuration
The NEW mining mode gives each tool its own behaviour, while OLD applies classic 3x3 breaking to every tool. Item names, menu titles and messages accept MiniMessage, & color codes and &#RRGGBB hex colors. Mining sounds (with random pitch), particle effects and enchantments can each be switched on or off. Operators are told when a new release appears on Modrinth. Tools made by older releases keep working after an update, and the config updates itself while keeping your values.

How do I install AmethystTools?
Place the plugin file in the plugins folder of your Paper, Folia, Purpur or Spigot server and restart it. Players do not install anything. Operators can then run /amethysttools give with a tier and tool name, or open the menu with /amethysttools.
Does AmethystTools work on Folia?
Yes. Folia is a listed platform, and the creator designed the plugin for both Paper and Folia. Purpur, Spigot and Bukkit also have listed builds, and the newest release needs no other plugins to run.
Does AmethystTools need a permissions plugin?
No. It uses two native permission nodes, amethysttools.give and amethysttools.admin, and both default to operators. You can hand those nodes to other players through whatever permissions setup you already run.
Is AmethystTools the same as the DonutSMP tools?
No. It is an independent project inspired by the Amethyst Tools on DonutSMP and has no affiliation with that network.
