Mace but 3D

A small Java resource pack that swaps the flat held mace for a clean 3D model. Item frames keep the normal icon, as with the trident and spyglass.

Mace but 3D is a vanilla-like Java resource pack that replaces the flat held mace with a clean 3D model. It was previously a mod and now works as a plain pack. It runs on the player's side only, so a multiplayer host does not need it and needs no other mods.

Supported versions

  • Minecraft 1.21.4 to 26.2.

What changes visually

Many players were disappointed when the mace arrived in 1.21 without a 3D model. Since snapshot 24w45a, a resource pack can fix that on its own, and this pack does exactly that for one item.

The custom model appears only while you hold the mace. In an item frame it keeps its normal model, the same way the trident and the spyglass behave. That restraint gives the pack its vanilla feel. Nothing else is described as changed, so think of it as a single-item tweak.

How to install Mace but 3D

  1. 1.Download the pack's .zip file from Modrinth and leave it zipped.
  2. 2.In Java, open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder.
  3. 3.Drop the .zip into the resourcepacks folder.
  4. 4.Move Mace but 3D to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen and confirm.

A pack made for a different release can still load but shows an incompatibility warning. For more detail on pack folders and ordering, read how to install resource packs on Java and Bedrock.

Known limitations

Its source repository carries no licence file, which matters if you plan to reuse the assets elsewhere.

Questions about Mace but 3D.

4 questions

How do I install Mace but 3D?

Put the downloaded .zip into your resourcepacks folder, which you can reach through Options, Resource Packs, Open Pack Folder. Then move the pack to the Selected side of the Resource Packs screen. Keep the file zipped. The mace shows its 3D model as soon as the pack is active.

Does Mace but 3D need any other mods?

No. The newest release lists no requirements, and the pack has been possible as a plain resource pack since snapshot 24w45a. It was a mod before that. It is needed only on the player's side, not on a multiplayer host.

Is Mace but 3D available for Bedrock?

No. It is hosted on Modrinth as a Java resource pack, and Bedrock uses a different pack format. Java players on 1.21.4 through 26.2 can use it directly.

Does the 3D mace show up in item frames?

No. The 3D model appears only while you hold the mace. In an item frame it keeps its normal flat model, matching how the trident and spyglass behave in vanilla.
