RGB Block Outline is a Java resource pack by KargoDiaz that replaces the default black outline around the block you are aiming at with an animated RGB one. It does not require OptiFine. It runs on the player's own side only, and hosts do not support it.
Supported versions
- Minecraft 1.21.5 to 26.3.
What changes visually
Look at any block and the selection outline is animated in RGB instead of staying the default black.
- Animated RGB outline in place of the black default
- No OptiFine required
- Java only, with no Bedrock port
- Listed under tweaks, simplistic and utility, with core shaders and GUI tags on Modrinth
How to install RGB Block Outline
- 1.Get the .zip from the Modrinth page.
- 2.Open Options, then Resource Packs, then Open Pack Folder, and drop the .zip in.
- 3.Move the pack to the Selected side of the screen.
- 4.Aim at any block to see the outline. If it loads with an incompatibility warning, the pack was built for another release, though it can still load.

Questions about RGB Block Outline.
4 questions
Does RGB Block Outline need OptiFine?
No. The pack page states it works without OptiFine. Drop the .zip into the resourcepacks folder, enable it on the Resource Packs screen, and the animated outline appears on the block you are aiming at.
Is RGB Block Outline available for Bedrock?
No. It is a Java resource pack hosted on Modrinth, and Bedrock uses a different pack format. Nothing on its page points to a Bedrock release, so Bedrock players need a separate pack.
Which Minecraft versions does RGB Block Outline support?
The pack covers releases from 1.21.5 to 26.3, and the newest file is 1.0.2. A pack built for another release can still load in Java but shows an incompatibility warning.
Can I use RGB Block Outline on a multiplayer host?
It is a client-side pack, so you install it yourself and the host does not need it. Server-side use is unsupported. It only changes how your own screen draws the outline.
